7 pin connector on the Video Card??

Some PC's/Notebooks don't have 4 pin S-Video or RCA but have a 'proprietory' connector. The idea is that the manufacturer is supposed to supply with the PC/Notebook an adapter or adapter cable that will convert to the 7pin connector to 4 pin S-Video or RCA. Not surprisingly the cable is not always supplied as it should be! (remember when you bought the computer? that cable may have been in the box/packaging and you may have scratched your head  thinking 'blimey what's this for?' and threw it in the deepest recess of your cupboard/desk/under bed/shed etc

Having said that, most 7 pin connectors are now compatible with standard 4 pin S-video cables so you should be able to use a 4 pin connector on your existing 7 pin PC connection. There are exceptions to this though, if you look carefully at the 7 pin connection some of them have a 'kink' in the top or bottom (depending which way up it is) of the circular part of the connector. If you don't have the 'kink' you wont be able to use our S-Video to RCA cable 1.5m which has this 'kink' in its S-video connector. You will have to use our standard S-video to Scart kits 5m,10 or 15m .If you have the 'kink' then you can use any of our cables. Be aware this 'kink' will be at 0 degrees or 180 degrees and kinks outwards from the connector, it has nothing to do with the 2 inward kinks found on S-Video connectors , you can ignore these, they are normal.

Should you want/need the original adapter cable (to convert the 7 pin to 4 pin or RCA) you will need to contact the manufacturer and attempt to obtain this cable or adapter  and then we can supply the rest of the cables to connect from it, to the TV (We have tried to source the adapters but we would have to buy a huge quantity and due to the rarity of these 7pin connectors its not commercially viable to do so.)

Some manufacturers are well aware of what the adapter cable is and some don't have a clue! So make sure you ask your manufacturer for the 'TV out adapter cable which converts to Svideo or RCA' and not 'TV out cables' otherwise they may fob you off thinking you are wanting a connection kit etc. Having talked about the 'adapter' and assuming you obtain the 'adapter' there is the possibility that the adapter may not be just an adapter but an adapter cable which  may allow connection directly to the TV instead of having to buy a cable set to go with it, which is fine except it wont deal with sound and its usually about 10 inches long (pointless considering it probably wont even reach the TV!), if it is long enough we can help here if you need sound transmitted by supplying the appropriate cables to go with it.
